transfer window thoughts

so how do you optimise your team to stay ahead in the window? Use your wild card for one. what if thats already used up? you better think of your team value then and focus on one pick so you arent losing points with over one pick. You want to think aboutto improve your team value by replacing a defender foer a better valueone. how does one do that then? what factors point towards the right pick? say for instance you've identified a defender as the point of difference to push up your team value. Do you just look at player stats and attributes or each of the back line's as a whole? do you take the history of games against both teams also?is it the potential goals the defender can score? or gets conceeded in that he's played in this season? do we consider games the player starts or games that he's come on as a sub? do you measure this defender's potential against a second option in a head to head? I believe we need to think of these factors, creating quetsion points and stages measuring the probabilityof each question stage and comparing it to the previous stage then adding in a sum of all parts result producing a compounded probability. This is the culmulative effect of goig through all the attributes and questioning each stage, which hopefully leads you to a definitive answer. The whole point of this is to give you CONFIDENCE in your picks and stop you worrying when you have made a decision and made your changes, being able to let go once you have officially made the changes.

FF NEWSWEEK

Game Week 4(11-13 September 2010)

Well well the international break is truely over and done with so lets get back to what we really care about.Fantasy football gameweek 4.(log in here) So it’s a season and we are already looking to Gameweek 4, and the early leaders in your League are flying high with their big point earners and captain picks, and its becoming such a competitive year so far isn't it? that the minute an unknown player gets a sniff over the customary 6 points, managers get a whiff and are on to the player pronto. This makes it even tougher to ride on the wave as the very next week your competitors have bought him and upgraded him to the first team quicker than you can say Mascherano in one mouthful. The good news though is its still early days. But that’s only good news for those catz WITH A PLAN. If you are going to just ride along and see what happens or ask around for tips from m8s and people on that internet sites who look or sound like they know what they are on about, then you are certainly in for a bumpy ride my friend. One in which unless they rest of your competitors are snoozing 2 losing you aint winning the title AGAIN this year.

The first thing you can be sure of is that those early risers are not uncatchable at this stage, there is nothing especially impressive by flying on the wave of Chelsea,Man U or Arsenal points baggers.

This writer recognises that the competition in the leagues this year feels more fierce than normal and common advice/intelligence from everywhere websites authors says the obvious e.g. go Chelsea team make drogba captain and you get a healthy return. But what I am trying to focus on here is how do you get ahead of the competition with the concept of having the Slight edge? how do you incrementally do a bit better than all your competition and there is nothing they can do to stop you even if everyone around you is hanging on to the coat-tails of sure bankrs to sustain their challenge? how can you by sheer wlll, observation and much thought, using all details avaliable to you,Figure out how to get and stay ahead? what are the right questions to be asking to stay ahead?

Secondly introduce the concept of basing your overall weekly value on a projected TEAM VALUE and not obsessing so much about an indivdual player or captain...this make it easier to be able to see a wider range of options avaliable to you and obsessing about how can you get certain big players into your squad to make it better.Given this does help you but not as much if you position your weekly totalling on your team returns.

you can be sure that the early risers are not uncatchable, especially at this stage. You should be wary of thinkn coz catz are flying high due to one or two premiership teams or stars Captained and are riding a wave. But only depend them week in week out will slow you down and more than likely won't win you the title. Obvious statement that one.The other thing for you to realise my friend is that this is Fantasy football not real.Meaning the game should be viewed and played differently to how the actual event takes place.Duh. The rules of virtual or fantasy football sometimes may not tally with the game that you were just watching a few hours ago and yes there is always area in which we could all use some protesting against the scoring but at the end of the day, it saves time if you can look at what the numbers coming in are telling you. Use what you got to get what you want! The most basic raw data that is avaliable to you is the Game statistics. Statistics when analysed to extract info is GOLD.Data will revel more than meets the eye to player performances and you get a true picture of potential.and My friend to stay ahead to begin gaining the edge you wanna study PremFF website Like a hawk. you want to know how much you stock is rising or not and why and how that affects your bargaining power in the transfer market.

Save you may other elements like their relationship with their manager, colleagues, personal gals and motivation, belief in their ability and personal issue that may affect their performance, but we can try and maximise what's within our control as possible. But during a season generally, you can have a sense of what to expect as ROI before picking a player. you will obviously need a sizeable amont of games for u to dig in for analysis. you can see from a run of games generally how confident a player can be coming into the next week's game for example. But enough of that for now, the point is if you are going to go for this goal will require a fair amount of discipline, making time out to pay attention to the details and analyse your infoWEEK IN WEEKOUT.dont say you werent told or didnt know.you are also gonna have to get intimate and know ur opponents team inside out. planning out a strategy, testing it out, that blows your competition out of the water. You are gonna have to spend time researching players, team schedules to gain the slight edge on the competition.

FF Newsweekly

Subject: FF Newsweekly

FF NEWSWEEK

Welcome to the first edition of a brand
new information weekly for all your fantasy football news and views. We are
calling it the FF newsweek. Why talk about a subject like this here? Because we
love it. Because
YOU love it…there is nothing like the buzz of taking the helm
at your fantasy football club, creating and guiding them up towards the heady
heights of the League. On here the talk is going to focus on the English
premier league (EPL), because that is the league to talk about. Because that’s
what we’re interested in here in fantasy football world. The reason for
making this newsletter is to provide those who want to find out different ways
to stay competitive in their perspective leagues or get new ideas to stay on
the edge. It is also for those who may not necessarily have enough time to
check up on the latest info that could impact their team. The information
provided here is totally independent and we do not support any group, or
individual FF teams or players. This is for the love of the game and to provide
useful info for players …please feel free to send or forward any ideas on
how we can improve the newsletter..

First and foremost the leagues we are
focusing on are on the official Barclaycard EPL website. The site is as good as
it gets and we suggest everytime you log on to skim through other pages other
than your private league and your ‘My team’ page. There is a
goldmine of info if you are willing to go through it. One of these pages is the
‘news’ page which you can scroll through at the top of the
page..there’s useful info on subjects like match previews, which can give
you an idea on how to approach the coming game week. You could also check out
the ‘pundit’ page where the guru’s of the EPL website give
you a hot tip or two on who is the player to have in your team…or who you
should ship out now!

Check out the Barclaycard EPL website
here: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

Be sure to go through the whole website
if you have the time(and the patience), there is more to it than just a very
eye catching homepage. Constant trawling for information to keep you updated is
vital if you are looking to challenge for your private league title!

You will also find Skysports website useful in your quest
for glory..they usually have a FF review at the end of each gameweek:  http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12193_4963307,00.html

On this weeks news..

1) Man
united on the Road to San Siro

Possibly because of their away fixture to
Inter Milan, Man united will not be involved in this gameweek 27, which will
mean you as the manager having to reshuffle the pack to still be able to pick
up points, if you feel you have adequate cover to handle the situation the
better, but with big players like Ronaldo, Vidic, Berbatov and Rooney not
likely to pick you up any points this week, you’ll have to find an
alternative tactic to stay ahead.

2) Arteta
out for the season

Mikel Arteta barely made the first three
minutes of the
Newcastle game over the weekend before having to be stretchered off with a
knee injury. We all know Mikel has been one of the stars of this year’s
FF League and has been consistently in the top three midfielders all
season(behind Lampard and Gerrard) gaining many a manager a barrel load of
points.

the look on David Moyes face at the end of the game
indicated it didn’t look good though, read on here:

One of the keys tactics to staying ahead of the competition
is to be able to react quickly to situations faster than your opponent  in this case finding a suitable replacement and making the
change asap, as his asking price of 8.4 million is likely to go down very
quickly thus reducing your chance of having to bargain of a very credible
replacement and you having to go back to the drawing board. It could also force
you to make more than one substitution thereby making you lose value able
points (2 subs= 4 points lost; 3 subs=8 points lost etc etc)

3) Beattie
on Top

This week’s top performer, so far,(at the time of
going to the press we still have Spurs v Hull to be played) has got to be James Beattie, the former
Southampton striker who didn’t exactly find himself at the top of most
EPL teams wish list during the transfer window in January. Since moving to
Stoke he seems to have settled in well and filled in the void created by the
missing Fuller. He picked up the Man of the match award  after scoring a
brace over the weekend(against
Portsmouth), earning
himself a massive 13points in the process. His stats read 5 appearances, 4
goals..which is almost a goal a game…Sometimes it would seem the valuable
gems can be found at a rather lower price than you were expecting to shelve out
for..there is more from where that came from, the trick is to anticipate a
player’s potential before everyone else finds out! Remember Carlton Cole
anyone? Saying that Beattie would be a useful addition to any manager’s
side at least on current form.

Remember this gameweek ends tonight and you can make all
your changes between now and this coming Saturday, Feb 28th BEFORE
11.30am. Good luck
for the coming week!!!

And finally on a different topic.. you missing not seeing
Mourinho and his ramblings in the premiership anymore? Have no fear for those
who don’t know you can find out what his thoughts are on various topics
on his TV show: Special one TV! Enjoy! You need flash for this to work, if not
just watch it at home!
